What are lip fillers?
Lip fillers are a type of dermal filler that uses synthetic hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance found naturally in your body. Your provider at MediFreda injects this substance through gel form into your lips to restore volume and shape.

What happens during a lip filler procedure?

Your provider then uses a fine needle to inject lip filler into parts of your lip that may include the edges, curve at the center, or corners of your mouth. You can expect to feel a pinching sensation, but no pain. Your provider may apply an ice pack to your lips throughout to alleviate any swelling and bruising.
The procedure may take anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours and your provider monitors you throughout the procedure.
What happens after a lip filler procedure?
Your provider at MediFreda may encourage a follow-up appointment two weeks after the procedure to monitor your progress. They may offer healing tips like:
- Applying an ice pack
- Avoiding wearing lip balm or lipstick for 24 hours
- Hydrating
- Avoiding exercise for 24 hours
- Avoiding puckering, kissing, or sipping from a straw
